Their Root Cause

Sebum, or skin oil, is naturally produced by the sebaceous glands found below the surface of the skin. If it could, the oxygen would burn the substance off naturally and that would be that. This prevention of sebum oxidation is what leads to the 'white' aspect of the trapped sebum. Due to remaining closed they are typically called as closed comedones. They normally arrive as tiny white spots that might be small or even invisible to the naked eye.

Blackheads

Most likely to develop on people with oily skin, blackheads are a type of acne referred to as open comedones. The microscopic hole that lets in oxygen to enter the comedone is what oxidizes the skin cells and sebum and turns it the blackish color. This opening is the main difference that separates it from a whitehead.
